Fundamentals of Yoga
Pranayama (Breathing Techniques)
Pranayama is the science of the yoga breath. Prana has been described as a subtle
invisible force, the life-force that pervades the body.
In this class we will practice several
different breathing techniques from the most basic to more advanced forms to help us develop a deep breath.
No previous experience with Pranayama breathing techniques is required.
Special Attendance Options:
- Attend just the lecture portion of the class (12:30pm - 2pm).
- Attend the 11:30 Gentle Yoga class and then the following lecture until 2pm.
- Attend 9am Beginning/Intermediate yoga and then 11:30 Gentle Yoga followed by the lecture through 2pm.

The origins of Tai Chi and yoga are similar in age and share many themes.
Tai Chi has often been described as a moving meditation. Its action enhance balance
and coordination and regular practice reduces stress.
Tai Chi is considered
synergistic with yoga and the practice of both can enhance the benefits of each
system dramatically.
This class will take showcase a form of Tai Chi that Julie Byrd has practiced and
taught for over two decades. We will explore a simplified version of this form that can be
learned in just a short time.

Yoga Ethics
Being a good yoga teacher means having a proper ethical perspective. Having
good ethics is more than just a list of what not to do, but also involves how
we think and respond to those different from ourselves.
This course outlines the ethical considerations and conflicts faced by all
yoga practitioners. We will look in-depth at the practical applications of ethical considerations
as well as the standard of business ethics as applied to yoga.

Yoga Nutrition

In this class we will take a hands on approach to learning how easy it is to create fermented
foods for ouselves. I will lead you step by step into how to create tasty and healthy biome building
foods.

look at what the newest information about probiotics and prebiotics and their role in our health.

Sugar Detox is part of our Detoxing Series of seminars that explore
methods of ridding ourselves of toxins. In this segment, we explore the truth about sugar in our diet from processed foods to fruit.
In this thorough report we will cover all the natural sugars and sugar substitutes that are available
and commonly found in our foods.
Your seminar handout will include a chart that
lists the pros and cons of each substance as a handy reference. We will also explore just what makes us desire
something sweet and how too much of a "sweet tooth" can lead to our downfall. Useful tips will

Yoga Teaching Styles
