Pranayama Techniques

Pranayama is the science of the yoga breath. Prana has been described as a subtle invisible force, the life-force that pervades the body.

In this class we will practice several different breathing techniques from the most basic to more advanced forms.

No previous experience with Pranayama breathing techniques is required.

Special Options:

  • Attend just the lecture portion of the class and practice several breathing techniques (12:30pm - 2pm).
  • Attend the 11:30 Gentle Yoga class and then the following lecture and pranayama practice until 2pm.
  • Attend 9am Beginning/Intermediate yoga and then 11:30 Gentle Yoga followed by the lecture and pranayama practice through 2pm.

Basic Anatomy of Yoga

The heart of BYB yoga is anatomy. Anatomical insight is essential to the understanding and logic of adjustments and variations - and is crucial when dealing with injuries.

In a creative and engaging environment explore basic anatomical terms relating to the mechanics of movement and learn the details of anatomy and physiology with special focus on safety as it relates to yoga. With an understanding of muscles and joints, true confidence in yoga is attained.
